suárez bakery

Carlos Suárez opened his family owned business,  Suárez Bakery in 1992. After working in the hotel business as a pastry chef, the demand of his own delicious recipes among family, friends and others quickly evolved . It was perfect timing when a bakery was for sale near his home and through hard work and extreme talent, it is still a thriving bakery today.

The moment you step in to the bakery the amazing seasonal sugar cookies are sure to catch your eye. Their cakes and cupcakes are decorated to perfection and they also take custom orders for any kind of occasion.

There is no doubt that this Charlotte loving family takes pride in having their name on the door and it shows with the quality and presentation of every item.  Carlos relays "I think having a talented, passionate team who all share an inspired vision is what really sets us apart. We don’t approach our menu with the mindset of what’s going to sell; we make things we like, based on our own tastes and influences".

What specials are you offering this holiday season?:  Many of our pies are available by pre-order year round, but our Pumpkin, Pecan, Bourbon Pecan, and Dutch Apple pies are only available for the holidays—November through December. Starting in December we make Yule Logs, Gingerbread houses and cookies, Croquembouches, Cinnamon bread (available with and without raisins), Chocolate Mint Chip cookies, Holiday Butter cookies, and seasonal cupcakes. We make sugar cookies year-round, but our holiday sugar cookies are always super popular.

What are some of your best sellers?  Some of our most-loved goods are our birthday and event cakes, seasonal cupcakes, hand-iced sugar cookies, doughnuts, and pastries—especially our Cream Horns.

What items do you think customers should try?  Birthday/event cakes, Texas doughnut cakes, seasonal cupcakes.

Do you sell wedding cakes?  We love to work with couples on their wedding cakes and dessert table goods. We offer wedding consultations that involve sampling five cakes, filling, and icing combinations, and a design session with one our Order Consultants. Prospective wedding clients can request a consultation here: Pie and doughnut assortments are popular alternatives to traditional wedding cakes. We've even made Texas Doughnut wedding cakes.

FOR THE LOCALS:  There are specialty doughnuts every Saturday until they sell out.  If you want to try something new Carlos recommends the guava pastelitos (flaky cuban pastries filled with guava fruit paste) a staple from where he grew up in Miami.
